The Balfour Golf Course is a prestigious 18-hole, Les Furber-designed facility, complete with a driving range, putting green, full fleet of rental cars, and newly constructed clubhouse.
Players will find the front nine carved neatly through a forested region with sand and water hazards strategically placed; the back nine uses the mountains to provide elevation from tee to green and a scenic view across Kootenay Lake to the Purcell Mountain range.
Golfers of all abilities will be rewarded by good shot-making, but don't be fooled by the large greens and seemingly easy play! This blend of "beauty and beast" will challenge the skills of even the very best of golfers.

The Balfour Recreation Commission is a non-profit Society, registered with the Government of British Columbia in 1963 to:
- promote a healthier lifestyle for the community of Balfour and the surrounding area through the provision of facilities, and
- create, encourage, maintain, promote, develop, and support recreational activities.
As a non-profit society, the BRC has no taxing authority and does not rely on the Regional District or Government taxes for maintaining and improving the facilities. We rely heavily on volunteers.
In 1986, the BRC was successful in obtaining title to a parcel of land to develop a top-rated, 9-hole, Les Furber-designed golf course. The course was built using volunteer labour. In 2000, Osprey Golf Estates Ltd. added the back Les Furber-designed nine holes. The BRC and Osprey have an agreement whereby the BRC leases the back nine and operates it for Osprey. The operation employs two full-time professionals and 16 seasonal employees.
This popular, world-class, and now-18-hole golf course provides funds for the community to maintain the "little red schoolhouse" and fitness center, the soccer/baseball field, tennis court, Balfour Hall, and boat ramp.
